5 ways to celebrate Galentine’s Day
“It’s only the best day of the year” said the goofy and hilarious Parks and Recreation character Leslie Knope. On the series Galentine’s Day is celebrated on the 13th of February with a boozy brunch. But there’s so much more you and your ‘gals’ can do on this great day. Check out these 5 ways to celebrate Galentine’s Day and get inspired!
1. Secret Valentine
Secret Valentine or Secret Cupid is just like Secret Santa. You and your friends put down your names and throw all the papers into a hat, a basket, a pan, whatever. Then each of you draws a name and gets a gift for that person. It’s important that no-one knows who drew who. An easier way to do this is to draw names online. Then you don’t have to get together just for the draw, and you can’t draw your own name! Start Drawing Names
2. Indulge in sweet treats
G-Day is the perfect excuse to stuff yourselves with all that’s sweet and fattening. Just for one day of course! Cupcakes, scones, cheesecakes or Leslie Knope’s personal favourite: waffles. Below you’ll find some lovely ideas for Galentine sweets.
3. Get your crafts on
No Galentine’s party would be complete without crafts. So get your colored papers, scissors and glitter out of the cupboard to get some serious crafting done. You could of course make gifts for your boyfriends or husbands, but isn’t it much more fun to make fun gifts for each other? Check these crafting masterpieces to get inspired:
4. Ain’t no party like a cocktail party!
A very important ingredient to every G-Day party: drinks. And even better: cocktails! Learn to make your own pinky cocktails at a cocktail workshop or use these great recipes below to make your own at home.
5. Have a strong-and-independent-women-movie-marathon
On Galantines gals also celebrate being independent and strong, not needing men. What better day could there be for having a strong-and-independent-women-movie-marathon? We’ll gladly give you a few suggestions:
- The Devil Wears Prada – Great fashion and good looking men
- Mama Mia – Feel good film full of Abba songs
- The Hunger Games – Women don’t get more strong and independent than Katniss
- Black Swan - Natalie Portman and Mila Kunis in a movie in which you’re never really sure about what’s real and what’s not
